technology is really great. so are bird feeders.

My physics book is approximately 4.3 million pages thick. Also, it weighs about 42 pounds. I don't like to carry it around. So today, I TOOK A PICTURE of the problems we'd be going over in recitation, and I transferred the pictures TO MY PHONE.

I hung a bird feeder outside my window on Sunday, and now I am backed up by days of empirical data when I tell you that birds are really cool.

it's thursday.

And I am very tired. But that's really not important right now.
Here are some things I know today:

• The lunar eclipse was really cool. Outer space in general is really cool.
• They recently found a solar system a bazillion light years away that appears to be a scale model of ours.
• People at work read my blog. That's kind of weird. (Hi, Mark.)
• The lovely folks at Starbucks are never going to get my order right. It's not even hard: short no-water chai. But every single time, something gets messed up. Today (and last time, actually) the mistake was that they gave me a tall and charged me for short. Which I am not complaining about.
• The lovely folks at Starbucks may also never get my name right. Today it was either Leaha or Leeha. It was sort of hard to tell.
• My mother, who is really fabulous, is a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus. That means she is a Grammy winner. Um, yeah, that's pretty cool. It's not the point of my story, but it is pretty cool. This is the point of my story: A smaller version of the chorus is going to perform my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE IN THE WHOLE WORLD orchestral/choral piece in Carnegie Hall in April. The members of the chorus had to audition to go. Mom auditioned. Mom is going. Mom is awesome. Yay Mom!

Elise's prompt for Paper08 this week was something old. Normally I let her prompts percolate for a few days and then come up with an idea, but today I knew instantly what to use. I have had these beautiful pictures of my grandparents as teenagers since last Christmas. Never could come up with a project to do them justice. Maybe I still haven't. But I love this page I did:
Grannie told me they were out together one afternoon and there was no one around to take their picture together, so they took one of their shadows. Sweet & romantic.

I really liked Ali's weekend creative last weekend. I was inspired to make something, but I only have one punch. And circles can be kind of boring sometimes. So I chopped it up, and I really like the result. If I can find a 6x12 frame, I will frame it. Otherwise it will sit on my desk for a while.

I have a computer again! Which means I finally uploaded all the daily pictures I've taken over the last few weeks. Yay.

Anyway, I got some really exciting news today! Along with a good healthy dose of frustration. My computer is fixed and in Denton! Sadly, DHL only delivers things when I am NOT AT MY APARTMENT. Which makes a lot of sense, because I'm never at my apartment. Because I do this little thing called SCHOOL. Which takes up a lot of time. So after a series of long frustrating phone calls to DHL and to work and to DHL, the conclusion was :

No the driver is not still in my area and he can't double back, Yes I can have things delivered to me at work, No I can't change the delivery address because Dell would take weeks to approve the change, No I can't have a neighbor sign for it because I don't know my neighbors, No I can't drive to Ft. Worth to pick it up because I don't have a car or friends with time, No I will not be at my apartment for any reasonable period of time during delivery hours, but Yes the woman at DHL was a very, very, very lovely person named Sylvia who stuck a big old Saturday delivery sticker on my box without charging me the extra fee.

I think it was the near-tears sound in my voice as I said, "Well, it looks like I'm up a creek here," that won her over.

Lovely lady, that Sylvia. Also, Vicki and a lovely woman whose name I can't remember. DHL gets ten points for customer service. Also, Randall from Plaxo. I should write their supervisors a letter.

I think I will.
