where have i been?

So far this has been a really good summer for me. New (and fantastic) apartment, new (and fantastic) roommates, swimming pool, etc. It's been a little hectic, trying to settle into a new routine and get my feet under me, but I'm working on it. I just need a few more weeks and I'll be good to go.

In the meantime, I've been scrapbooking! It's kind of been a while, but I joined up at Studio Calico and I got my first kit last month. IT IS AWESOME. I've made 4 layouts and a bunch of pages for my paper08 album, and I love them all. I even managed to get two 12x12 pages out of it, which is usually pretty hard for me. I love the bright colors of this kit! And the woodgrain stamp rocks completely. yay scrapbooking.

Yesterday I had the realization that I am nearly incapable of having a normal conversation with someone who has not seen every episode of The Office at least twice.

After I dropped two poorly received references into separate conversations with Molly in the morning, the final straw came when I sent this e-card to her in the afternoon:
with the accompanying line: "I went to an Alicia Keys concert last weekend and I think I might have accidentally gotten high from a girl with a lip ring."

THAT IS REALLY FUNNY if you have every episode memorized like I do, in which case it is obviously a statement of my unending and unquestioning devotion to the recipient. And my willingness to engage in illegal activity.

However, this g-chat conversation followed:

Molly: um...... me: what                Molly: hmm. well, it's just that the e-card is a little strangeme: i totally wasn't joking this morning when i said i can't have a conversation with you if you don't watch the office more.

So here's my book. There are some spots that are blank. And I am okay with that. My junky typewriter (oh sorry, I mean "vintage")  makes the journaling kind of hard to read at parts, but I am okay with that. I love this little book.

And the new apartment has internet!

We've spent a lot of time in the last week at the pool. It is pretty fantastic to have a pool right outside your front door. And now instead of a pale pasty white, my skin is a delightful shade of scarlet red. Ouch.

Ok, back to shaking up rock salt, sugar, ice and cream.

I mean, I'm all for snail mail because it's kind of a novelty at this point. Getting mail is like "Oh, pish posh! I've received a letter in the MAIL! Fiddle sticks! I'm tickled!"
