This semester seems like it's simultaneously zooming by and dragging on. I want May 16 to be here, like, tomorrow, and I want time to stop because I feel behind and overwhelmed by school. It's an odd paradox.
My cat likes to go out at night and explore. The problem is, there are a lot of cats around here and I assume they have some type of pecking order. My roommate's cat Sammy is a tough little hoochie with some street smarts on her. Oscar is not.
The other night after a particularly long outdoors time, he showed up at the back door a little more urgently than normal. All was fine until I picked him up. "Guys, I think Oscar got skunked!"
Hiram came up and sniffed him and informed me that Oscar hadn't been skunked, he had been marked. You know. Sprayed by the business end of another cat.
Because he's such a wimp, he owns nothing around here. I wouldn't be surprised if Sammy owned half the apartment complex, but Oscar's got zip. To help illustrate: imagine if a Jet -- one of the dancing Jets from the original movie -- wandered over into Sharks territory, but in an updated version of the movie where they're really tough and they definitely don't do ballet. That is what happened to my cat.
I had my first job interview yesterday. It was scary. And I didn't feel so hot about it. After I told Mom and Molly what happened, they both said the same thing: "Well, you won't make those mistakes again." And they're right. I hope my interviewer today didn't notice my mistakes because he was so blinded by my charm and brilliance. But in case that didn't happen, there will be more. My next interview, I'll be better prepared and more confident. And eventually, someone will offer me a job. GO TEAM.
I didn't want to say anything until we were well into March, because one year and three days ago, Denton had itself a blizzard. But I think we're safe now. Spring is here! It is beautiful! I always forget how much I missed cool breezes through open windows at night.
I went to Calloway's on Saturday and bought some pretty little plants as an attempt to re-green my thumb. I'm liking my little cluster. The purple flower is an African violet, the bright green is some sort of moss, and the other two I don't remember.
So here's to green and warm skies and open windows!
