So, some background on my February resolution #1. I started a quilt several years ago. My first quilt, made of t-shirts from my band years in middle and high school. A huge quilt. Note to any future quilters out there: make your first one a small one. My mom helped me put the top together during the summer between my sophomore and junior years in college. She taught me how to do a running stitch, gave me a little quilting kit, and sent me back to school. And the quilt sat in my closet. I would pull it out maybe once a month for a few hours. As you might expect, it hasn't gotten very far.
I often see quilts that I would love to make, but I always remind myself that I HAVE a quilt project going already! If I can't finish that one, I have no business starting a fancier quilt with more expensive fabrics. (Jamaica makes lovely quilts that are quite an inspiration.) And I really want to finish my quilt! It's big and soft and will be great on the bed in winter.
Then Elise Blaha posted about her first quilt project that she did start to finish in about 2 weekends. Including hand-quilting. And I thought it was about time that I got serious about this quilt. So. Here I am. Getting serious. In a few weeks I will show you my quilt.
