I can hardly believe I haven't talked about this yet, but our best friends moved to town! Last summer Hiram won a euphonium job in the US Marine Band (very similar to Chris's job. and yes, most of our friends all have the same job.) So at the end of January, they showed up here and can I just tell you, it is amazing. I lived with them in college, and since then we've been separated by too many miles. Having them this close still feels too good to be true, and I'm a little bit in awe every time we hang out with them casually as if it's no big deal.
The funniest and best part of this whole situation, where all our friends play euphonium, and all the euphonium jobs are in Washington, DC, is that it means that almost all our friends are here in DC. For some people, it is a stretch just to stay in touch with their friends from college, but here we all are, in the same city together.
How lucky we are! It's one of the (many) reasons I am so, so glad to be here. We have such good friends!
