I looove this fabric line, Chicopee by Denyse Schmidt. I think the colors are so cool, and they're combined in ways I would not normally be drawn to, but here I love them. Especially all the black. I don't think I've ever purchased fabric with strong black tones before, but the are some of my favorites in the whole line.
For this quilt I used a jelly roll (a roll of 2.5" precut strips from a single fabric line) and simply sewed all the strips together. Easiest quilt construction ever!
The result is very loud and a bit chaotic but I reeeeally like it. Good thing too—this one is staying in our house. That's pretty rare for my quilts, so I was excited. I handquilted lines horizontally through each strip of fabric. It was easy and I like the way it looks on the solid back.
Like I said, the black fabrics were my favorites so I bought a little extra of one print to use as binding. I love the way it looks against the chartreuse backing.
It measures 45x60—perfect for a baby!
