Our dear friends Lauren and Brendan got married last month, and I wanted to give them a quilt as a wedding gift. I thought a plus quilt would be appropriately symbolic to celebrate a wedding! I chose an assortment of fabrics in their wedding colors, though between the time I started working on this and the actual wedding, red got booted as a wedding color. So it's not quite right, but I don't think that bothered anyone but me. :)
I embroidered the binding with their initials and their wedding date, and a small "signature" near the bottom.
It's a pretty large throw quilt (I wanted it to be big enough for them both to snuggle under on the couch!) and I can vouch that it's excellently cozy. (I love hand sewing the binding because you get a chance to test out your creation.) It took a while to finish, but it was so worth it. Half the fun of making quilts is giving them away and seeing the recipients' reactions!
