I made this custom quilt for someone whose first great-grandbaby is on the way. She requested blue patchwork squares and helicopters, as the baby's father is a helicopter pilot. I looked around for a suitable helicopter fabric and ended up ordering from spoonflower. It was my first time ordering from there and it was kinda fun. I'd love to play around with ordering my own designs some time. ANYWAY.
She'd requested patchwork squares, but I couldn't resist mixing it up a little with a few triangles thrown in. I think they break up the squares nicely.
For the first time ever I quilted in a color other than white, which is a little silly but I felt almost rebellious doing it. Haha! I love the look of diagonal quilting, which is why it's my default on patchwork quilts like this.
