After spending several days working on two detailed and time-consuming pieces, I wanted to do something quick and easy yesterday, so I made this cute little shirt.
I used the Bimaa pattern again, same as for the hoodie I made on Monday. This time I did the shawl collar version and didn't make any modifications of my own. I'm so happy with it! I love the look of the shawl collar and if you know me at all you know that I love almost anything with stripes.
In case you were wondering, my photo-taking strategy for these posts has been to run back and forth on the deck, turning around to snap photos as he runs after me. Joey is not very good at posing, but he loves to play chase.
He also loves bubbles. While Joey admires his bubbles floating in the sky, let's all stop to admire the matching stripes on that side seam.
I used a ponte de roma knit from Girl Charlee. I really liked working with this fabric. It was sturdy and easy to sew with, and it feels good on the skin, nice and smooth. Unfortunately, as I finished sewing this last night, I had the awful realization that I am pretty sure I forgot to pre-wash before I sewed. I'm worried now that after a wash the shirt will be either too small or wonky. I will be REALLY SAD if that happens, so keep fingers crossed that the laundry odds are in my favor.
I'm not planning to sew anything today. Chris has been either working late or out of town every night this week. It's allowed me to be really productive—nothing to do but sew after bedtime. But he gets home today and I'd rather hang out with him than be holed up in my room again. I do still need to sew the vest for Joey's Easter outfit, so I guess I'll start that tomorrow. Maybe I'll clean my room first.
